I used the project to obtain the password and user name from the robot, which was fiddly, and then pieced together from forum posts and the code itself what HTTP commands I needed to operate the roomba.Anyone know of a good open source project for replacing, or modifying, roomba's (or another good robo-vacuum's) firmware? The convenience of a robo-vacuum is hard to understate but I am not keen on a company having a robot in my house sending them detailed info, mapping data, and images.A week ago I got my OSMO//hacker Roomba firmware updater from iRobot. ![]() ![]() Currently there are few options how to do it like here(mqtt depencency) or with esphome(esphome dependency) but I was thinking how cool it well be to just flash some custom firmware to esp8266 and use the built in roomba addon. So searching around I found that somebody had created a Node.js project called dorita980 which allows you to control the roomba via HTTP requests.
